Handicraft Picnic

Handicraft Picnic

Do you want to experience and learn something new while visiting Fiskars? The Handicraft Picnic is a fun activity for a few hours in the Villa Ruukinmäki garden at the Fiskars Ironworks.

Who is the Handicraft Picnic for?

“Are you hungry for something to do?” If you answered yes, then the “Handicraft Picnic” is for you. We still have a need to do something with our hands. The Handicraft Picnic offers a taste of different ways to make crafts.
The picnic is designed for adults. Children over 10 years old can participate together with their own adults. The themes of the summer picnic are mini-rug weaving and stamping or stencil printing.

Mini-rug weaving

You will learn how to weave lovely mini-rugs for your home decor at this picnic. A small rug is a beautiful decoration element on the wall, or you can sew small rugs together, and soon, you will have a beautiful rug or chair cover.
If you have a basket of forgotten yarn waiting to be used after the picnic, use the forgotten yarn and weave a small rug. You can use the yarn in the basket that is left over from some project for a mini rug. Or you may have a project that is left unfinished and will never be finished. Take apart a project that has been unfinished for years and make something completely new out of it.

Duration of the handicraft picnic

The picnic includes 2-4 hours of instruction depending on the theme and the necessary materials for one project. Additional materials can be purchased during or after the picnic.

Picnic location

Picnics are organized outdoors or indoors if the weather does not allow for outdoor activities. The location is the Villa Ruukinmäki garden or the SeriMeri workshop. Juice, coffee or tea are also offered at the picnic.
Picnics can also be organized for groups elsewhere, for example in the park in the center of Ruukki.
